When the back teeth are developing depressions and grooves form in the chewing surfaces of back teeth, they are impossible to clean, because the bristles of the toothbrush cannot reach into them. The sealant acts as a barrier, protecting the decay-prone areas of the back teeth from plaque and acid. Our AIR MICROABRASION unit enables us to provide children and adults with sealants by removing the dark grooves of the back teeth (which are the beginnings of a cavity) and applying protective sealant on the surface.
